How SoftOrbits helps content creators enhance their visuals with ease

SoftOrbits is an image processing software development company founded in 2006 by Eugene Ustinenkov.

Focused on smaller-scale single-feature utilities for photo and video editing, the company has carved its own niche in the industry, earning more than a million yearly downloads, a 300,000-user base, and recognition from leading brands like Softonic, OISV, and CNET.

While SoftOrbits initially aimed to help amateur photographers deal with the hassle of photo editing by handling long and tedious processes like batch format conversion, in the last few years, the team’s products have resonated well with content creators struggling to enhance their visuals. According to the company’s internal data, around 37% of those who have downloaded SoftOrbits’ utilities in the last few months aim to use them for content creation purposes.

“It is exciting to see how the audience for our products evolves with them. Influencers are an incredibly important part of any community nowadays, and when it comes to photography and image editing, they are usually somewhere in between newbies and professionals. That means their requirements for software vary significantly from both groups’ expectations, and they mostly look for convenience, simplicity, speed, and high quality,” says Eugene Ustinenkov, CEO of SoftOrbits with more than 10 years of software development expertise.

SoftOrbits’ utilities are all about these qualities, which gives them an edge over highly technical professional software that might offer dozens of various functionalities but requires spending hours learning how to use it in return. The team is convinced that its initial business strategy, created back in 2006 to address strong competition in the niche, bears fruit to this day, helping SoftOrbits stay unique in the eyes of potential users.

“We’ve learned that most content makers don’t want to spend their time on these things, and would rather use a simple alternative that gives them exactly what they need. They aren’t looking for perfection — they are looking for tools that quickly add visual appeal to their creations, and that’s where our utilities shine”, explains Eugene Ustinenkov, CEO of SoftOrbits, Candidate of Technical Sciences

The team believes that this year’s introduction of AI features to some of SoftOrbits’ most popular utilities also played a significant role in this trend. With so many AI-based solutions available on the market, only a few truly provide exactly what they promise and offer a high enough quality to actually attract audiences for content creators.

“We’ve seen a significant increase in downloads after the AI implementation, and a huge percentage of people who downloaded our utilities stated that they plan to use them for content creation. As soon as AI appeared on the horizon, we knew it would inevitably become the center of attention and one of the most important tools in content creators’ arsenals, so we focused on making our AI features as consistent and reliable as possible — something that most similar products on the market lack,” says Eugene Ustinenkov, CEO of SoftOrbits and AlarmFront.

As the team has captured the attention of influencers, it plans to capitalize on that by making its tools even more accessible and convenient. The next big step for SoftOrbits is switching the distribution model to SaaS, removing hardware requirements and enabling online access to tools at all times.

“Right now this feature is only available to our corporate clients, but we see how useful it would be to content makers, so we are committed to transforming our business model to adjust to that. While the process takes time and careful planning, we are certain that this is the right step for any company looking to thrive in the current environment,” says Hannes Jansen, writer and editor at SoftOrbits.
